basegroup specialises in office and corporate fit out, refurbishment and project management. We believe in finding the space where great design, functionality and cost management meet, to deliver projects that are timeless.

Our services include construction, space analysis and planning, design and documentation, project and construction management, FE & E, building approvals, permits, contract administration, project management and corporate maintenance.

Sustainability, quality and safety are hallmarks of basegroup and we pride ourselves on the levels of accountability and risk management put in place through all our projects.

basegroup was founded in 2002 by Peter Barrie, a member of The Institute Of Project Management. As an industry professional, with 22 years of experience in building fit outs, manufacturing and project management, Barrie saw an opportunity in launching a market provider of solutions for fitout and refurbishment service’s.

From the very beginning, the cornerstones of the company were financial strength, industry know-how, a commitment to constant innovation, and the belief that good companies are comprised of talented people who enjoy working together and keep focused on the end plan.

From this strong foundation, a commitment to the highest quality craftsmanship along with a concerted and sustained belief in the value of good corporate citizenship and community involvement, basegroup is committed to leading the industry at all levels.

PETER BARRIE, DIRECTOR
Peter studied building construction at Swinburne Institute of technology, and spent the early part of his career working for Jennings, Graeme Evans & Company and Hooker projects, responsible for a number of commercial and industrial development projects.

Peter ventured into his own business Arcon Australia, a successful interior fitout company, whereby all resourcing was in house, including a joinery shop, furniture company and all staff and tradesmen, with Peter as a director for 17 years. Peter founded and developed Insitu Furniture in 2001, specialising in importing and manufacturing high quality commercial office furniture. Insitu saw great success, winning multiple design awards for various pieces of furniture, internationally.

basegroup was founded in 2002, and Peter continues to be the managing director, with no plans to slow down anytime soon.

Ray Grant and Paul Woolger
basegroup’s Foreman and on site team, namely Ray Grant and Paul Woolger have been working with Peter for more than 30 years. They came on board in Peter’s previous business and have been loyal, trusting, craftsman, running sites since 1987. They are truly one of the backbones of basegroup.

Interior Fitout

We offer a number of different solutions for the fitout and refurbishment of buildings, including head contractor, in the traditional construction and tender process, where we take on all management of the fitout works and supervise and co-ordinate to the completion of the project.

Alternatively we offer a total turnkey solution, where we deliver all elements of the works including design, documentation, appointment of consultants, and furniture selections, through to the completion of the work. This allows the client to become involved throughout the process especially the design and makes for an accelerated program, with the flexibility of change as the project develops.
Project & Construction Management

basegroup offers some flexible solutions to manage projects for their clients, as the clients representative, and can control cost, program and quality by simply managing another contractor, as the clients representative. the client gets a no nonsense approach.

Space Analysis: We can provide an evaluation Service to assess whether the space is going to be suitable and adequate for the clients needs by a number of different ways.

Project Feasibility: Preliminary budget estimates to detailed cost plans to assess the end result will be adequate for the client.

Tenancy Advice Consulting: Working considerations for the end user, such as mail room usage, storage solutions, general facilities are available.
Maintenance

Maintenance is an ongoing program and can be a preventative working solution, as much as a repair issue. basegroup have a number of corporate sites where we have a regular site maintenance operation attend, usually on a weekly basis to provide services to the end user.
Furniture Procurement (F&E)

Having developed and owned Insitu Furniture, and as a result of the furniture fixtures and furniture involvement, basegroup have undertaken the process as FF&E consultants, and are experts in curating stylish and functional whole project furniture packages for fitouts, both large and small

Electrical

basegroup services are regarded as one of the leading electrical contractors in Victoria, with their services including commercial lighting and power installations, building tenancy refurbishments, energy saving systems, thermal imaging and on going building maintenance.
Data

basegroup services are the data cablers that you can rely on for your business installations including structured cabling systems, traditional optic fibre cabling networks, blown optic fibre networks, testing to latest international standards, cable assemblies & patch cords and network design & implementation systems.
Security

basegroup experts can advise you on your requirements for a security system to match your needs including access control systems, CCTV and CATV systems, design installation and commissioning, traditional or IP based systems, building systems, basegroup also offers regular servicing contracts once the system has been commissioned.
Safety Lighting

basegroup’s high standard of work has led us to team up with Vivacity and we have become an accredited installer of all Vivacity products including LED safety tactile blocks, OLED lighting, Modular Displays, Digital posters and Illuminated signage all of which is very exciting and it is great to be teamed up with a company that shares our excitement for quality work.

GUARDIAN VAULTS
100 William Street, Melbourne

Over the past 2 years we have constructed additions to theCBD Vault.Its was a project that required painstaking attention to detail and specific shop panel drawings in order to manufacture to fine detail, security and ongoing surveillance were a priority so the intra works were co-ordinated closely.

End Of Trip Facilities, 293 Camberwell Road, Camberwell

basegroup constructed and end of trip facility housing bikes, showers, changing rooms and change areas in the basement of 293 Camberwell Rd. We encouraged the contemporary design to accommodate the newer style of “getting to work”.

Recladding 12 Wesley Court Burwood East

basegroup was engaged to totally reclad the Ashwater Property building in Burwood East, including removal of existing non fire-rated aluminium panels, reworking fixings and recladding the whole building. Booms and cranes were involved in this highly supervised work where OH & S and site conditions were of the utmost importance.

basegroup Undertook a Project Management Role selecting the Architects and Services Consultants with the client in a collaborative and partnership relationship. basegroup then also contracted as head contractor in an open book guaranteed maximum sum agreement to deliver the total fitout of 1000 m2

101 Collins Street, Melbourne

Major refurbishment across 5 floors at 1010 Collins Street, a fitout under extreme circumstances whereby GSJB Were remained operating while the works took place, including major alterations and upgrades to the communication areas and 3 lift lobbies. basegroup were involved in Project managing the fitout of 2 floors then the building as Head Contractor, and the balance of another 3 floors. Total area approximately 5000m2. A remarkable project in relation to the highest quality of finish and sequence programming.

Over the years basegroup has completed various stages of fitout at 35 Sturt St Southbank, the last project was the fitout of a new part of the office and also the ground floor showroom space for leasing.

HER MAJESTIES THEATRE
219 Exhibition St, Melbourne

We undertook a major refurbishment of the Theatre and finished all of the decorative structures around the stage and ceilings to bring back to the original as built Theatre.
